Helping Hand In The Guide To Picking A Tattoo

By

We got a situation..

Have you ever been in the situation where your friends are real pumped about going out on a certain night and all getting tattoos? Well, I know a few girls have been in this situation, you can't lie! You're sitting there in the tattoo parlor, looking at the walls and pictures. Watching everyone pass by you, wondering when you're next.. And you still have no idea what to choose! I've been in this situation. And I know how you feel. It's hard to choose something, that one thing, that's going to be there on your body forever. So when they tell you to choose, and choose wisely, then you must do so. It's lke someone gave you this secret mission, and you have to complete this mission no matter what gets in yor way. I know of a few quick tricks to rule out those many pictures that just get in your way of the things you're really looking for. I want to stop you from saying, "I don't know what to pick!"

3-D Effects for tattoos will pay off.

First Step to Making THE Decision

There are so many catergories to choose from, you've got Butterflies, Names, Tribal, Animals, 3D effect, Original Art and so much more. The best place to start, I'd have to say is Google. Yes, I know everyone uses Google, but in all reality, what is the best search engine around? Yeah, Google. The best way to weed out all the unimportant images, is using keywords. Keywords are basically, for example, "skulls and butterflies tattoo". You can get a search of about 16,000 sites in about 0.17 seconds. You can always use Ask.com or you can even use Yahoo.

Making it Personal

If you're thinking of getting something meaningful, like your grandfather's name or the pink ribbon for a breast cancer survivor you know of. You can find so many different ideas of how to make it original and personal when it comes to your tattoo, by looking at many pictures. You can use a search engine such as Yahoo, Ask, or even you local library. Although, I'm a bit of a tattoo nut and draw a bit of Tribal, I'd recommend anyone to get their tattoo hand drawn on them unless you want it to be symmetrical. Every tattoo artist loves the freedom and the opportunity to use a person's body to draw an original piece of artwork. And maybe the artist will give you a discount. Or maybe a free touch-up later on when the colors fade from sun exposure. Whenever you get a personal tattoo, make sure you look and make any corrections to the tattoo when the stencil is still wet on your skin. Now, remember, the stencil is for you to make the necessary corrections to the way the tattoo looks. Whatever is stenciled on your leg, the tattoo artists will trace. Make sure the words/names are spelled correctly. Some people find out there's an error after the tattoo is already done. HUGE mistake.

I Made a Funny!

So you say, "I want to get a picture of a frog eating a fly with his tongue sticking straight out!" Yeah, it's realistic, but what the hell do you think it's going to look like in about 30 years? A faded ship? Not a good idea. If you want to get something funny, you have to go with lettering. I'd say something like, "E.T. phone home." You know? It's pretty funny if you know a guy that everyone calls E.T. Haha.

My Pet Dragon. Name: SNIPPY!

His name is Snippy! He doesn't bite though..
His name is Snippy! He doesn't bite though..

It's not going away.

Please remember that whatever you choose to put on your body is going to be there forĀ THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. So choose wisely. If you're stuck at a tattoo parlor with your friends telling you to pick something already.. ask a professional what kind of tattoo you should get. Do not be shy, just because these guys have piercings and tattoos of giant snakes doesn't mean they won't listen. I once went to a tattoo parlor with a picture of something and they told me that it wouldn't fit in the place we'd decided. So I asked the tattoo artist, "You should be good at picking out tattoos and spotting the right thing, which one should I get?" He looked at me and looked at the book, took the book from me. He thenĀ gave me another book that had dragons, but they looked very graceful and feminine. He started to flip through the whole portfolio and stopped at this dragon, and he looked at me and told me that was the one I had to get. I saw and it was instant love. I've got it on the back of my neck, and my sister has the same one in the same spot. It has drawn us closer. Everytime I see the tattoo artist every now and then, he asks me if I want a touch up, but I have to refuse because it always looks like it's just been touched up. Anyway, let me shut up about myself and leave you with some friendly advice. Listen to your gut. If your staring down this picture and you have this feeling that you're going to regret it later on in life.. back away. Talk to an artist or the receptionist. More often than not, the receptionist is an apprentice in tattoos.
